Serverless Computing 101

Earlier building an application would require physical hardware to run on a server which wasn’t inexpensive. Then came the concept of the cloud, where servers or amounts of server space can be rented by companies. Usually, server space was over-purchased by companies, just to make sure that the applications wouldn’t break down. Most of the server space was left unused.

Serverless architecture allows users to write and deploy code without worrying about the underlying infrastructure. Serverless vendors usually charge based on the computation and not for a particular amount of servers or bandwidth.
